The VASSARETTE brand was originally developed in the early 1930s by Vassar Company. Its predecessor, a company named Vassar-Swiss Underwear Company, had made its name in the early 1900s as a maker of gentlemen's ribbed union suits and women's underwear. In 1951, Munsingwear, Inc. acquired the VASSARETTE label. In 1958, a Hollywood Vassarette division was established which specialized in women's fashionable coordinated undergarments marketed under the HOLLYWOOD VASSARETTE label. These undergarments were designed to complement a season's trends and to create a desired silhouette.By 1986, the VASSARETTE product line had grown to include brassieres, girdles, garter belts, camisoles, petticoats, full slips, teddies, tap or French pants, panties, body briefers, robes, gowns and pajamas. In the early 1990s, the VASSARETTE label changed hands once again and, today, VASSARETTE is a registered trademark of Vanity Fair, Inc.In keeping with tradition, the VASSARETTE product line still consists of fashionable and trend-right intimates for women who are looking for a variety of options to match their many outfits and moods.
